Public Security Minister Invoice Blair confirmed on Thursday that police are investigating the lethal hit-and-run assault in London, Ont. as an act of terrorism.
“The occasions that happened on Sunday had been clearly hate-motivated. They had been clearly racist and so they had been clearly an act of terror,” Blair stated in an interview on CBC’s Energy & Politics.
“I can affirm that that is being actively investigated as a terrorist act by the police authorities.”
On Sunday, 4 folks — Salman Afzaal, 46, his spouse Madiha Salman, 44, their 15-year-old daughter Yumna Afzaal and Salman Afzaal’s 74-year-old mom — had been killed when a pickup truck drove into them as they had been strolling. The youngest member of the household, Fayez, 9, survived.
